A big development has occurred in the world of sports in regards to the acceptance of medical marijuana, marijuana dispensaries, and/or CBD (Cannabidiol), as Big3 became the first league to allow the use of cannabidiol, also known as CBD, for pain management and recovery.
“The BIG3 is uniquely positioned in professional sports as a player-powered league that looks at our players as partners not property,” BIG3 Co-Founder Jeff Kwatinetz said in an official statement. “As a testament to our relationship with our players, we listened to their feedback on CBD, as well as feedback from professionals in the regulatory and CBD industry, and decided to take this major step to support their health.”
The World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) has removed CBD from its list of banned substances.
Backers of CBD, which has little to no THC and does not get you high, maintain that it helps inflammation, pain, anxiety, and other issues or conditions.
The news is significant because the Big3 will now provide a test case or study for other leagues that can use this development to get a better understanding of CBD and more information on how to possibly incorporate it in their league in the future.
